Parner taluka, Ahilyanagar
Parner is a taluka in Ahilyanagar district, which used to be called Ahmednagar. It’s where our families come from, even though many of us now live in Mumbai.
About the taluka
Where we come from
Parner taluka (पारनेर तालुका) is in Ahilyanagar district, in western Maharashtra. The main town is Parner. The taluka sits right on the district’s border with Pune district, and the Kukadi river runs along its southern side.
A lot of farming here depends on the rains, so saving water has always mattered. The watershed work at Ralegan Siddhi is now an example for villages all over India. More recently, the Supa industrial area has started bringing jobs to the taluka too.

Parnerkars in Mumbai
The Parner community in Mumbai
Over the years, a lot of Parner families moved to Mumbai for work and studies. Today you’ll find Parnerkars all over Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai, and most still have strong ties to their village.
We started Parner Taluka Rahiwasi Mandal, Mumbai in 2018 so these families could find each other here in the city. It has grown from there, and now includes Parnerkar’s Reshimgathi Vivah Mandal, our matrimony service.
